The Maryland Division started off the tournament season this past Saturday, April 5th on the Upper Bay. The anglers were tested with chilly weather and wind gusts up to 25 mph. Even though the weather was not the best, we had a good turn out and the message shared Friday was one we all needed to hear (thanks Jon). We would also like to thank North East United Methodist for the wonderful hospitality they shared with us Friday night.
Buzz and Buzzy Billings brought in a nice bag that put them in 3rd place. They had a total of 5 fish weighing in at 20.51 pounds. They also held the big bass of the day weighing 5.60 lbs. Paul Wiley and Jon Crans placed just in front of them (in second place) with 5 fish and a total weight of 21.30 lbs.
Our 1st place winners went to Tom and Jimmy Rufenacht with 5 fish and a total weight of 22.21 lbs. Our anglers were faced with challenging weather that made the day long, cold, and difficult. However, you know what they always say… “A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work”.
Our next tournament will be held on the Potomac at Smallwood State Park. The Friday night meeting will be at Marbury Baptist. We look forward to seeing everyone again, and for great weather.
I also wanted to let everyone know that the Maryland Division has a facebook page. We will post the results and pictures from all of the events there. Be sure to check it out.
None of this would be possible without our national and local sponsors, we appreciate all of your support!
